Natural stone looks for any room in the home
A Great Alternative to Stone and Ceramic
Hosner Carpet One Floor & Home carries quality, long-lasting resilient floors such as Armstrong Alterna. Alterna, like other resilient floors, combines styles, durability, and comfort, so it is appropriate for almost all residential settings.
Alterna is considered engineered stone because, although it’s made from synthetic materials, it looks exactly like real stone or ceramic tile. The colors, shades, and patterns are all authentic, and Alterna, like real tile, can even be installed with special grout! What sets Alterna apart from stone and ceramic, however, is its flexible construction. Because Alterna is flexible, it is more resistant to external pressures such as foot traffic. Alterna tiles, unlike stone and ceramic, will rarely crack, and they also remain totally water and scratch resistant. As a result, Alterna tiles are certainly easier to clean and maintain.
Given the flexible construction, Alterna is also more comfortable underfoot than stone and ceramic. Whereas stone and ceramic are both extremely hard, Alterna remains relatively soft without sacrificing any durability at all. Plus, Alterna is warmer to the touch than stone and ceramic tiles, so it’s much easier on bare feet!
Alterna can be installed over most flat and smooth subfloors using Armstrong’s permanent S-288 adhesive. Armstrong does, however, recommend installing over its own Quiet Comfort Luxury underlayment to make up for any subfloor irregularities.
