Carpet is still the number one top choice among homeowners today because of how comfortable it is and how versatile it can be in your home. You’ll enjoy browsing our showroom while we qualify your carpet needs to try and get a better sense of your lifestyle. Our carpet experts can help you along the way by explaining the specifics of each kind, and understanding what you have in mind.

There are many carpet characteristics that play a role in how they function such as the pile style, the carpet cushion, and the base material. Carpets combine style, warmth, and functionality all into one product and make your house into a home. Think about what you want to get out of your carpet, do you imagine it looking eclectic and refined, or more basic? Is it more important for it to stand up to pets and children, or to follow your design guide?

Expert Advice - Choosing a Carpet Style

Jim Aaron, our VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, shares some information on the different carpet styles that are available.

What are the Different Carpet Types?

When selecting a new carpet for your home you want to consider things such as pile styles which are the fibers that are twisted. They play a role in the height of your carpet as well as if there is a design or not. You also want to choose a color of your carpet that compliments your home décor, brightens up a room, or even hides stains and pet fur. The types of fibers also impact how your carpet functions, so synthetic fibers are great for durability, but a natural fiber like wool has a lot of great properties that can make a positive impact in your home.

We can help you find a carpet with the right balance between performance and style. The most important thing you need to do is choose the right type of carpet. There are five main types: level loop, patterned, textured, frieze, and plush.

Where can Carpet be Installed?

Carpet has amazing properties that allow it to function in several different settings of your home. Carpets that are stain resistant and wear resistant are ideal for places like hallways and staircases. A stain resistant carpet is also an ideal option for children’s playrooms and living rooms that see frequent activity.

For places in your home with less foot traffic, a soft carpet can go a long way and turn your space into a retreat. Carpet is a great choice for bedrooms and home offices. There are also carpets that can be installed in basements, and we recommended taking a look at the Carpet One Floor & Home exclusive brand Tigress® H2O™, our totally waterproof carpet option.

We also offer PetBLOC carpet padding, which not only adds to the comfort of your carpet but also protects your carpet and subfloor from pet accidents becoming a permanent part of your flooring.
